Fighting the Holiday Blues
With so many loved ones away from home, holidays can become especially difficult. This is one of the most important times for all to be aware of themselves and those around us. Symptoms of depression can present in a very subtle fashion and without warning. It can range from shifting moods, a lack of interest in daily activities, or even mild sleep disturbances. Depression can even affect our children. The symptoms tend to be the same but even less pronounced. If you or anyone you know seems to be having a difficult time, talking to them can be the first step to resolution. Simply asking, "How are you today” can be the first step. Take a moment and actually listen to someone’s answer to that question. For most people simply discussing issues or stressors can be of great relief. Also having someone to confide in is a very important thing. If you or someone you know seems to be having a tough time, the following are a few of the immediate resources available at Pearl Harbor.
